Why Get LED T8 Tube Lights For Your Home

Are you getting LED T8 tube lights for your home? Like so many other people today you are probably looking for ways that you can help to protect the environment.

One particular way that this can be done is through replacing any fluorescent lights you have in your home or business premises with the new LED T8 light tubes.

Even though fluorescent lights are more cost effective than the incandescent type there are still problems associated with them.

This is why then you should be considering replacing any light tubes you have in your home with the new LED variety.

One of the big problems you will face if you choose to stick with using fluorescent lights rather than LED T8 tube lights is that they are difficult to replace.

After a fluorescent light has been installed replacing them is a very difficult task because of the plugs and ballast used in them.

Before a new fluorescent tube can be installed the previous one along with its plugs and ballast has to be removed.

However you also have to consider when replacing a defunct fluorescent tube that you need to dispose of it in the proper manner.

As these lights contain very toxic materials in them they need to be disposed of in the same ways, as other hazardous materials have to be.

So you will need to actually take them to a specialist-recycling unit, you cannot just put them out with the waste.

Whereas when it comes to these tube lights these are made from a silicon substrate that is encased in glass.

As these don't contain any kinds of materials such as mercury they can be put out with your regular waste when they finally need replacing.

But this isn't the case when it comes to using LED tube lights, as these contain no hazardous materials. Plus of course as they last considerably longer you won't need to replace them as often.

Plus replacing of such lights can often be done by you rather than having to hire the services of a qualified electrician to replace them for you.

As well as being much easier to replace another reason for getting rid of fluorescent lights for the new LED type is that they can be more beneficial to your health.

Fluorescent lights unfortunately don't emit a more yellowy colour light and this can lead to strain being placed on your eyes, in turn this can result to you suffering from headaches.

However the light emitted by these tube lights is much clearer and brighter and also tends to be a lot whiter in colour.

As you probably already know LED lights not only use less power but also generate a lot less heat when on. In fact the temperature at which these lights operate is just 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

So it is possible should the need arise for you to be able to remove and replace any LED T8 tube light tubes with having to wait until they have cooled down.

Why Choose LED T8 Tube Lights Over LFLs?

Should you choose  LED T8 tube lights over LFLs?  For many years, people have been utilizing fluorescent lamps for various lighting needs at home or commercial establishments.

While these type of lights have been around for some time in the market, it is only recently that the technology has been developed to manufacturer them at lesser costs.

At present, they have become better alternatives to fluorescent lighting whether for commercial or residential settings. Here are some of the reasons that LED T8 tube lights are a wiser choice over LFLs.

1. LED T8 tube lights have a better color feature than LFL-based tube lightings. Hence, they are perfect choice for challenging retail and commercial lighting setups.

2. LEDs can switch on straightaway unlike fluorescents which usually switch on slowly and can sometimes be accompanied by some flickering. Cold environments do not affect the functioning of these lights, hence they can be used effectively in cold environments such as workshops, garages, barns and pathways.

3. Fluorescents work poorly with intelligent controls which also shortens their life spans. LED T8 tube lights on the other hand works perfectly with these control systems.

LED-based lights quality and life span are not affected by the constant switching on and off. These tubes possess what is commonly called as 'smart lighting' feature that allows it to respond perfectly to control systems intelligently.

Hence, these are the perfect choice for dimming lights in the living room, bedroom and lounges. This feature enhances its energy savings attribute even more, making it a wise choice for industrial and commercial establishments.

4. LEDs are preferable than fluorescent for home use, especially. LED tube lights are conventionally made from aluminum and plastic, making them shatterproof. Recently however, glass made LED-based tubes which looks similarly like fluorescent lamps have been introduced in the market.

5. They do not have mercury-content in them, hence making them environment-friendly. Hence, even if you opt for the glass made LEDs, you would still be a lot safer than using fluorescent tubes.

6. They are capable of emitting directional light, which makes them perfect for applications that require focused lighting, such as in floodlights.
It also means that LED lighting systems are more efficient in lighting an area.

Fluorescents on the other hand are multi-directional hence some of the luminescence it gives off is wasted since it is directed to other surfaces.

7. On the average, these tube lights have greater life spans than the fluorescent tube. In fact LED can illuminate for up to 40% beyond the life expectancy of an average LFL.

8. LEDs may have fewer lumens than fluorescents. However, this does not mean that they perform less because lights actually gets by with just a few lumens since they shine their light on where you need it (directional) unlike LFLs which are multi-directional.

The only disadvantage of LEDs is their cost. They are actually cheaper today than they were 3 to 5 years ago.

However, if you will compare the financial cost of opting for LEDs and the savings that you will generate over time when using it, it will actually redound to the fact that LED T8 tube lights are cost-effective than its other counterparts.

Things To Do After Purchasing LED T8 Tube Lights In Singapore

There are plenty of LED T8 tube light suppliers in Singapore who can provide you with such lighting systems for your home. Although your local DIY, home improvement or lighting store may stock such items it could much more cost effective to purchase such items online.

If you do decide to purchase such goods online there are a couple of things to remember before you do. The first is to carry out a lot of research into the LED T8 tube Singapore Company you are considering making your purchase from.

One of the most important things to look at is what sort of money back guarantee they offer should the lights prove to be defective or if they are damaged upon arrival. If the company doesn't offer such guarantees then of course look elsewhere to make your purchase from.

Once the tubes you have ordered have arrived, then you need to make sure that you carry out the following.

Step 1 - After you have taken the LED T8 tube product out of its packaging you should examine it very carefully. Make sure that as you unpack the item from its packaging you examine it very carefully for any damage that could have been caused during transportation.

Step 2 - If you notice any damage to the packaging then of course make a note of this and the same goes for any damage to the LED T8 tube itself. Then send a message to the supplier explaining what damage has occurred. Please note that you shouldn't attempt to use the light if it is damaged.

Step 3 - After the tube has been removed from the packaging and you find that it isn't damage then it can be installed. However it is best if you arrange for a qualified electrician to carry out this work to ensure that it is installed correctly so it will then work properly.

Step 4 - However if you feel competent enough to install the LED T8 tube lighting yourself the first thing of course you should do is turn of the power supply to the area where it is to be installed. If you don't the chances of you getting an electric shock are quite high. Plus make sure that the tools you use to help install the light are ones that don't have any sharp edges. If they do they could cause serious damage to the light and affect how well it works in the future.

Step 5 - Once the light is installed make sure that you only run it for around 8 hours a time. If however the light needs to be on for more than 8 hours make sure that you don't allow for it to remain on for more than 14 hours.

If these LED T8 tube lights bought in Singapore are allowed to remain on for more time than this then of course they won't perform as well in the future. In fact they will start to lose their brightness a lot quicker. So instead of having a lifespan of around 5 to 10 years, you may find that these only last a couple.
