Switching To LED High Bay Lighting

Should you switch to LED high bay lighting?  High bay spaces, like stadiums and warehouses, are often faced with the problem of finding the perfect lighting source. Since these spaces have ceilings set at 25 feet or higher, it would require quite an amount of lamps in order to be properly illuminated.

Metal halide and high pressure sodium lamps are the popular choice for lighting up these types of spaces. There are also some owners who would fill up the entire space with fluorescent lamps. However, all these sources of light consume too much power which, in effect, adds up to the electric bill. This is why more and more consumers are switching to LED high bay lighting bulbs.

Light emitting diodes, or LED, is a light source which releases energy in the form of photons. Since it does not require any mixture of gasses to produce light, it is what is being referred to as a solid state lighting element, and is believed to be a safer light source compared to that of standard lamps.

The amount of lumens that a 400-watt metal halide lamp can produce can also be emitted by a 60-watt LED high bay light. And since a high bay environment would have to be dotted with several of these lamps, the LED kind would have to be the more cost-effective choice in the long run.

There is also a notable difference between the lifespan of an ordinary lamp and the LED high bay lighting lights. While the ordinary light sources like metal halide and fluorescent lamps are known to live for about 20,000 hours, LED can survive for up to 50,000 hours. And it doesn't end there - in excess of 50,000 hours, the brightness of the light being emitted is only reduced. In effect, these lights can actually last for up to 100,000 hours.

But, perhaps the most notable difference between these two types of light sources is its start-up and cooling-down time. Light sources which contain a mixture of gasses do not emit its maximum lumen output at initial startup - it would have to take a few minutes before it reaches its brightness. On the other hand, these lights reach its optimum state instantly. In the same way, in case of fluctuating power sources, metal halide lamps may require a few minutes off to cool down before having it turned on again; while the LED ones require no such cooling down time.

These type of lighting are also the safer choice. Being a solid state lighting source, it does not emit as much heat as the standard lamps. This not only makes it the choice for warehouses that needs to maintain a certain temperature, but it also reduces the risk for any hazards related to high pressure gasses.

In selecting the best light source - whether it be for domestic or commercial use - the consumer must not always go for what is the cheapest. Prior to the purchase, he must do research work to help him ascertain which product is better in terms of effectiveness, durability, and safety. Only then will he realize that LED high bay lighting bulb will always be a smart investment.

What Are The Benefits Of LED LightTubes As Compared To Fluorescent Lights

High performance LED light tubes are now the latest trend in the lighting industry and they are quite popular presently and they come equipped with fantastic features.

These lighting bulbs are better substitutes to fluorescent lighting tubes; with products such as Flexible LED as well as LED T5 and LED T8 tubes. These lights can also be utilised not only in a working environment but also at residential houses. They are particularly better than other conventional lighting in terms of energy consumption, brightness and maintenance costs.

Actually LED bulbs are safer to use. They have no toxic material (like mercury) in them, unlike fluorescent lighting bulbs. Mercury dust contained in fluorescent tubes pose serious health threat to anybody exposed to it, for those who work with them; such as electricians.

A broken fluorescent light tube in a room releases mercury into the air, and the mercury could last for up to few hours in the air. Mercury is capable of causing asthma and some other respiratory problems. These lighting bulbs are also easier to install as compared to traditional fluorescent light bulbs.

Nowadays, high quality LED fluorescent tubes have surpassed the normal conventional lights when it comes to energy consumption efficiency. The reason is that LED consume lesser energy makes them a great lighting alternative for use in companies and for residential houses as this would assist in reducing the electricity bill payable for putting lights on by a great portion.

They are in fact use only about 30 percent of energy which fluorescent light bulbs use to produce a particular level of brightness. They also save you a large sum of money as they last much longer than fluorescent light tubes.

The flickering of the traditional fluorescent bulbs has been proven to be causing headaches to some people. The micro-pulse wavelength being emitted by these fluorescent light bulbs is said to be responsible for such headaches. Whereas, LED do not flicker at all when switched on, as such nullifying all concerns about experiencing headaches and disorientations.

Though super bright LED lighting lamps are more expensive as compared to traditional lighting, but if you look at it on a long time basis, you would discover them to be the a rather cheaper lighting option.

A Quick Look At The Benefits Of LED Tube Lighting

The LED tube lamp is presently overtaking the fluorescent light bulbs which have been a mainstay in many businesses and kitchens for many years. Although the amount of light produced has made light bulbs consistently a choice for areas needing bright lighting, the LED lighting has proven to meet all these challenges.

LED lighting is available in most of the same tube sizes and shapes as traditional fluorescent lighting. One of the great benefits of switching out the fluorescent bulbs for LED is the fact that the process is quite simple. These lights are able to fit into the prongs of the fluorescent lighting bulbs and the plug-in replacement is easy.

The areas where this lighting is usually used are normally active for several hours on a daily basis and are costly to utilize. The maintenance and repair of these bulbs can be very high and energy costs can make them cost prohibitive. Additionally, the bulbs contain mercury which can be dangerous and harmful if the bulb breaks.

The LED tube lighting is a high efficiency lighting bulb which uses less than than sixty percent of the energy that an incandescent light bulb uses. The standard tube replacements use only 14-24 watts of energy and in fact last from 50000 to 100000 hours before they should be replaced. They have great color quality and the same color dynamics as their counterpart.

The tubes have a plastic tube housing and do not need the energy sucking ballast of the fluorescent. With an operating temperature of 100 degrees, the light bulb does not get as hot as other lighting bulbs and normally has a life span of up to eight times than that of a normal incandescent bulb.

The tube is manufactured with a long silicon substrate which has several LEDs mounted on it. The substrate is enclosed in a glass tube and ready for installation. It does not contain toxic chemicals such as mercury and also provide an environmentally friendly means to provide light which is equal to fluorescent light bulbs.

Talking to an expert who has knowledge and the know-how in the different types of lighting available and their impact on the environment will be much helpful. Definitely, they will be able to provide important information which will help you to make the best decision about what type of LED lamp will be most effective in your home or office.

Savings And Safety With The LED High Bay Light

Ai LED High Bay Lights

Can you save with LED high bay lights?  Visible light will always play an important role in everyone's lives. Not only does it stimulate the sense of sight, but certain light sources are even responsible for the survival of the human race.

Historically, people of the past relied on sunlight and fire to illuminate their homes. Fortunately, science paved the way for developments that changed how the world is being lit up today.

Such remarkable development is the light emitting diode, more commonly referred to as LED. Standard lamps and bulbs contain gasses which produces light.

LED, on the other hand, contains what is being referred to as a solid state lighting element. Due to this solid lighting element, LED is considered as the safer choice since it completely gets rid of risks related to high pressure gasses.

That is why LED is now being recommended as the best light source, not just for domestic use, but for high and low bay areas as well.

High bay areas are high ceiling environments, often at 25 feet or higher; while low bay areas are those that are below 25 feet. Examples of these areas are stadiums and warehouses.

For years, fluorescent lamps and metal halide lamps were the popular choice for these areas. However, these light sources consume too much power which, in turn, may result to the owner having to shell out quite a sum of money once the electric bill is due.

On the other hand, a 60-watt LED high bay LED lights can produce the same amount of lumens as that of a 400-watt metal halide lamp. Although the initial purchase cost of an LED lamp may be of a higher cost than that of metal halide, it will soon prove to be the more cost-effective choice, given its low power consumption and low maintenance costs.

In line with maintenance costs is the LED's longer life. Standard bulbs and lamps are usually marketed to have a lifespan of 20,000 hours. LEDs, however, are known to provide up to 50,000 hours. In fact, in excess of 50,000 hours, the LED lights are still functional, only with reduced brightness.

High bay areas often require quite a number of lamps in order to be perfectly illuminated. Ordinary lamps produce heat, so a large amount of these lamps would produce a warm environment.

An LED high bay light, on the other hand, emits a lower heat output. This not only allows for a maintained room temperature, but also lessens fire-related hazards.

Even if placed outside, an LED high bay lighting fixture will also produce a better lighting effect compared to other standard light sources. Oftentimes, lamps containing a mixture of gasses produce light pollution, which can be an eyesore.

In contrast, LED produces a natural lighting effect which is easy on the eyes and perfectly illuminates the nearby areas without adding pollution to the night sky.

So despite the slightly more costly initial payment for LED high bay LED lights, continued use will show the user that it is the better choice, not just in terms of savings, but also in terms of safety.

What Are The Differences Between LED Lighting Vs Fluorescent Tubes

LED fluorescent tubes offers benefits such as a higher energy efficiency than Compact fluorescent lamps and fluorescent tubes, lower power consumption, lower maintenance costs and longer lifetime, durability and brighter light output than conventional fluorescent lighting.

LED lighting is slowly filling the residential and business lighting market place with such innovative products as LED T5 and LED T8 Tubes, flexible strip lighting, and LED down Light bulbs.

Although fluorescent tube lighting is more energy efficient than incandescent lighting, it is still an energy wasting device when compared with LED lighting. Switching to LEDs could cut your energy bill in half, while still keeping all of the brightness, and no fluorescent flickering!

Even with the most advanced state of the art CFLs, fluorescent lighting accounts for a high percentage in existing lighting all over the world, switching from fluorescent lighting into LED lighting can greatly reduce the global lighting power consumption.

LED ones are more energy efficient than fluorescent lighting due to the high efficacy of LEDs. LEDs for interior lighting have already broken the efficacy record of 100 lumen per watt, while fluorescent lighting only has an efficacy of around 60 lumen per watt.

LED has a power factor of 0.9, which means most of the power is converted into light, but when fluorescent lighting works, a huge amount of power is converted into heat which will be dispersed finally. LED lighting consumes only 30% energy as fluorescent lighting to deliver the same lumen output.

Flexible LED lighting has a much longer lifetime than fluorescent lighting since LED lighting is solid state lighting which more stable and reliable. They can last over 50,000 hors which means 17 years under normal use. Whereas fluorescent lighting only has a lifetime of around 5,000 hours, which means you have to replace them as often. Using LED lighting can greatly save your expenses which are used to buy new light bulbs and pay for the labor.

Additionally, the high quality of LED down lighting bulb is much better than that of fluorescent lighting. Fluorescent lighting is always flickering when start up, while LED lighting is quick to start up without any flickering. We all know and have seen or live with flickering fluorescent tubes on a daily basis. They've actually been proven to cause headaches, due to the micro-pulse wavelength they emit. Using LEDs can reduce workplace strain, headaches, and increase efficiency, with workers at top performance, minus the migraines from CFLs!

In contrast, they are solid state lighting which does not contain any filaments that could break (like incandescent) or hazardous materials like CFLs. Someone may say that the upfront costs of LED lighting is too high, due to the technology used to achieve such a high lumens per watt (efficacy) rating, it is true.

But, think about the long term energy savings, and savings you will get from not needing to replace the lights, for up to 5 or 10 times as long, depending if the light replaced was incandescent or fluorescent. Either way, the more high energy halogen, incandescent, or fluorescent lights you replace, the more money you will save every month.

LED super bright lighting lamps will replace fluorescent lighting since it meets the requirements of sustainable development, incandescent lighting, because of energy savings and durability, and halogen lighting due to the heat, safety factor, and of course energy usage! Go green and truly be eco-friendly with LED lighting.

You have to consider things such as the quality, design, longevity, the energy consumption and of course the maintenance issue. These are just the basic factors you need to consider when choosing proper outdoor lighting.

There are basically two main types of flood lights, the incandescent bulbs and fluorescent types. Although 100W LED flood lights are becoming increasingly popular, they are still not that mainstream for this type of fixtures.

The Incandescent type of bulb is a basic type of lighting. The advantage is that it is inexpensive. It is definitely cheaper than other lighting fixtures out there. Also, its light quality is unparalleled. This might work better in outdoor spaces especially in lighting up a larger area. But, if you are after diffused lighting even in your outdoor space, the usage of incandescent outdoor wall lights and flood lights might not be the best alternative.

Another thing about using incandescent is its energy consumption. As a lighting source for outdoor space, you expect it to work overnight. But the problem is that it might cost you a huge amount of money. This is where the advantages of fluorescent lights come in.

If you are looking for outdoor weather-resistant lighting, the metal halide bulbs will come handy. This can also be used for outdoor wall lights which have been equipped with durable materials so that they can withstand even the most extreme weather conditions.

Not all of the flood lights in the market will give you the advantages you are looking for. But then again, you can mix and match lighting fixtures to get the desired effect you want without spending too much money. You have to access what sort of lighting fixture will work better in different areas of your outdoor space. This will create depth in the area however will still work in offering more than adequate illumination.

You should be able to find reliable lighting fixture sellers online. You can choose from an array of 100W LED flood lighting bulbs and start researching their individual features. Then you can make comparisons between these alternatives and then choose which one can offer you the most benefits when it comes to durability, lighting quality and efficiency.

You have to ensure that the flood light is simple to install. It can be a bit tricky when installing outdoors, however if you do not wish to spend more money hiring electricians, you should ensure that you are buying a fixture which is easier to install in outdoor spaces.

Of course, safety is a critical issue. You definitely do not wish the wires exposed for children to trip over. You also do not want the wires to be prone to electrical problems, or even fire, so make sure you buy a fixture with safety properties.

It is important that when you are looking for outdoor 100W LED flood lights, you really need your outdoor space to come to life at night. As such, you have to choose and make that the flood lights you are purchasing are up to expectation.

LED Fluorescent Tubes With Energy Savings

What about LED fluorescent tubes?  The disadvantage to this type of lighting is that each light tube contains a small amount of mercury vapour, a toxic heavy metal. This can provide not just a health risk whenever the light tubes are broken, but can also accumulate in landfills before entering the water table or causing further pollution.

The fluorescent light bulbs use electricity to excite mercury vapour inside the glass tube and always need a ballast to regulate the flow of power through the lamp. A starter is in the circuit to heat the contact ends of the light tubes which ionizes the mercury vapour creating the UV lights. The inside of the light tube is coated with a phosphor material which glows whenever exposed to the UV light produced by the mercury inside the fluorescent light tube.

Recent developments in SMD LED technology have now showed that LED fluorescent tubes are presently a reality. They are a more efficient form of lighting product consisting of small chips of conductive material which release light when a current is applied to them. They contain no filaments and can produce up to 25 times more light per watt than traditional light bulbs.

LED lighting bulbs need lesser energy in their manufacture than fluorescent light tubes, and only 3% of the energy they will consume over their life expectancy is consumed in their manufacture, and they are also produced from non toxic materials. The light tubes are made from polycarbonate, a material that is more robust and durable than glass, so accidents will not need special cleanup procedures.

Although this technology is more costly than existing fluorescent lights at face value, their lifespan is about 10 times as long, while consuming 65% lesser energy. In most general purpose lighting applications the additional cost of the LED technology will more than pay for itself within the first 18 months.

The disadvantage is that the tighter beam angle of the LED lighting bulb products, while some fluorescent tubes are manufactured from a polycarbonate light diffusing material, while others may have a narrow focus which are not be suitable for replacing existing light tubes.

Many fluorescent fixtures are in fact designed with reflectors which assist to distribute the light from the light tubes evenly in their environment. This is a issue very similar to what was faced whenever compact fluorescent light tubes began replacing incandescent lighting bulbs, this is a problem which will soon be overcome and allow faster adoption of this emerging lighting technology.
