Are LED Lighting Tubes Better?

LED lighting tubes are truly the next generation technology which features numerous benefits not only to consumers for home LED lighting, but also to many businesss premises.

LED lighting offers such benefits as a higher energy efficiency than CFLs and fluorescents, lower power consumption, lower maintenance costs, longer lifetime (50,000 hours compared to less than 10,000), durability and brighter light output than conventional fluorescent lighting.

Fluorescent lighting contains toxic materials such as mercury which is harmful to environment and human body. Did you know that if you drop or break a fluorescent bulb you must leave the room for 4 hours, due to the toxic materials floating in the air, which could cause respiratory damage, or Asthma in the long run for workers who have to deal with these fixtures daily.

For quick installation, LED tube lighting can be placed and installed directly into existing fluorescent T5 and T8 sized sockets, you only need to remove the ballast, plug the LED bulbs in, and you're done! Contrary to popular belief, LED light tube is very easy to install in this day and age, and the bulk of LED products are now "plug-and-play" while still offering a slick look with unmatched energy savings.

First of all, LED light tube is more energy efficient than fluorescent lighting due to the high efficacy of LEDs. LEDs for interior lighting have already broken the efficacy record of 100 lumen per watt, while fluorescent lighting only has an efficacy of around 60 lumen per watt.

LED has a power factor of 0.9, which means most of the power is converted into light, but when fluorescent lighting works, a huge amount of power is converted into heat which will be dispersed finally. LED lighting consumes only 30% energy as fluorescent lighting to deliver the same lumen output.

Secondly, Flexible LED lighting has a much longer lifetime than fluorescent lighting since LED lighting is solid state lighting which is more stable and reliable. LEDs can last over 50,000 hours which means 17 years under normal use.

Whereas fluorescent lighting only has a lifetime of around 5,000 hours, which means you have to replace them as often. Using LED lighting can greatly save your expenses which are used to buy new light bulbs and pay for the labor.

When it is switched on for hours a day, especially for a long period of time, fluorescent lighting may have some hot spots due to heat it generates, which does not happen to LED lighting.

These hot spots cause the rest of the light to become dimmer, and quickly results in a dead CFL tube, a perfect reason to switch to LED T8 Tubes or T5 tubes, depending on the socket size.

Fluorescent lighting / CFL pigtails can cause eyestrain, but LED lighting does not as a result of its uniform and unparalleled balanced light output, and does not flicker or emit a low pitched humming like the earlier fluorescent technology.

In contrast, LED lighting tubes s solid state lighting which does not contain any filaments that could break (like incandescent) or hazardous materials like CFLs. Someone may say that the upfront costs of LED lighting is too high, due to the technology used to achieve such a high lumens per watt (efficacy) rating, it is true.

However, think about the long term energy savings, and savings you will get from not needing to replace the lights, for up to 5 or 10 times as long, depending if the light replaced was incandescent or fluorescent. Either way, the more high energy halogen, incandescent, or fluorescent lights you replace, the more money you will save every month.

What Are The Benefits Of Installing LED Flood Light Fixtures?

Are you looking to lighten up your outdoor space or lawn area? Then you should definitely consider installing LED flood lights

These lights offer an aesthetic lighting experience with environmentally friendly features.

Before you consider LED flood lights, let us tell you what LED is. LED (Light Emitting Diode) is made up of semiconductor diodes that emit light. These solid state devices do not have moving parts or fragile glass components.

They do not even have any mercury, toxic gases or filaments which are being used in fluorescent bulbs. So, there is nothing to break, shatter or leak that can harm you or your environment.

We now come to the various advantages of LED flood light fixtures. The foremost benefit of using LED flood lights is their energy efficiency. They consume much less electricity than the incandescent bulbs leading to lower electricity bills.

Secondly, it offers a long lifespan that is approximately 11 years for 12 hours a day. You may consider 50 incandescent bulbs for one LED approximately. As such, lower replacement costs and lesser e-waste to be dumped into landfills.

Another advantage of LED light tube is low heat production that is ultimately good for the environment and your plants, that is if LED lights are installed in the garden area.

Apart from the energy conservation and environmental benefits, a major benefit of using LED lights is the aesthetic appeal it adds to your property.

Implanting right style of flood light at the right place, you can make your outdoor area look as magnificent and beautiful as possible.

LED light tubes are also being used inside the buildings in the form of LED tube lights. They are best to use in the bathroom, drawing room and living room where you need to create a soothing ambiance and do not require bright light to do eye-intensive work.

Other advantages include lower maintenance cost, easy and flexible installation and ultra high efficiency. Additionally, LED flood lamps do not cause eye fatigue and helps protect eye health.

There are many suppliers who offer various types of these lights at reasonable prices.

LED flood lights are available in many designs with generally 10W, 20W, 50W, 100W and 200W power specification while in the case of LED tube lights, T8 tube light is more popular.

While there are many design alternatives available in the market, you will need to choose the type of lights which suits your needs and budget.

Finally, we can say that LED light tube is a great way to add creativity and flavor to the outdoor space. Also, the energy savings make it an attractive alternative for the same.

What Are The Advantages Of LED Lights Over Fluorescent Lights

LED fluorescent lights are better substitutes to fluorescent lights; with products like Flexible LED as well as LED T5 and LED T8 light tubes. They can also be used both in a working environment and at home.

And also, they are particularly better than other traditional lighting in terms of energy consumption, durability, brightness and maintenance costs.

LED lamp bulb is safer to use. There is no toxic material (like mercury) in LED lights as compared to fluorescent tubes. Mercury dust contained in fluorescent tubes pose serious health threat to anybody exposed to it.

A broken fluorescent light tube in a room releases mercury into the air, and the mercury could last for up to four hours in the air. This mercury is capable of causing asthma and some other respiratory problems.

However when LED are used, these health concerns are removed. LED replacement bulbs are also easier to install compared to fluorescent light bulbs.  Residential LED lighting has surpassed them when it comes to energy consumption efficiency.

In fact LED consume less energy makes them great lighting options for use in corporate organizations and at homes as this would help reduce the electricity bill payable for putting lights on by up to half. They are also useful in stemming the rising trend of global warming.

Replacement LED fluorescent lights use only about 30 percent of energy which fluorescent light bulbs use to produce a particular level of brightness.

They also help you to save money because they last much longer than fluorescent tubes; this is made possible by the more reliable solid state lighting that LED lights are.

The flickering which is experienced when a fluorescent light bulb is switched on is not an advantage for fluorescent bulbs. This flickering has been proven to be capable of causing headaches to those in its surround.

The micro-pulse wavelength being emitted by the flickering fluorescent bulb is said to be responsible for such headaches.

And yet LED do not flicker when switched on, as such nullifying all concerns about experiencing headaches and disorientations.

LED light bulbs
produce uniform light output as compared to fluorescent bulbs which sometimes dim out as they develop hot spots capable of causing eye strain.

The heat generated by fluorescent tube is responsible for these hot spots which could make the tube fuse quickly.

Although LED light tube is expensive when purchasing them, but if you look at it in the long run, you will realise they are the cheaper lighting options.
