LED Flood Light System : Steps To Install Them Yourself

Would you like to create a more inviting atmosphere in your garden this coming summer? If you would then the installation of a good quality garden garden LED flood light system may be the perfect solution.

Of course you could pay for someone to do this work for you. However it is pretty simple to do it yourself simply by following the steps offered below.

Step 1 - Begin by drawing up a simple plan of where in your garden you would like the floodlights to be situated. Then beside these mark down what wattage the bulbs will need to be next.

Step 2 - Now you need to determine what size transformers are needed. To do this is very simple all you do is add up the total amount of wattage for the bulbs you will be using then multiply this figure by 1.3.

So if for example the total wattage of each of the bulbs you are going to use was 20 watts and you were going to be installing 6 of them then the size of transformers needed after multiplying the 120 watts by 1.3 would be 156.

Step 3 - Next you need to determine how much lighting cable is needed. To make sure that you have enough cable measure the distance between each lamp and then add all these figures together and then times by 1.3.

It is best if you use 12 gauge cable for the installation of an LED flood light system in your garden. However if the distance between each light in the system is quite long or you choose to use higher wattage bulbs in them then it is important that you use much thicker gauge cable. Would recommend that you use either 10/2 or 8/2 cable in these situations.

Step 4 - After purchasing all the necessary items including any tools you may need especially wire cutters or strippers, screwdrivers, drills, screws and pliers you can start to install the LED flood light System in your garden.

The first thing to do is actually place the lights in the positions you have chosen for them to go. Remember to make sure that they are in positions that they are going to do the most good, whether it is to help illuminate a particular part of the garden or to help create a special effect.

Step 5 - Once you have place the lights in position you should now start to run the cable from the transformer to them. It is best if you create separate cable runs for each light from the transformer rather than just connect one light to the next. This way if anything goes wrong finding the problem is a lot easier.

It is best also to make sure that you run cables to lights that are of a similar distance from the transformer grouped together. Not only will this help to reduce any drop in voltage but also any loss of brightness produced by the lights.

Step 6 - As soon as the garden LED flood light system has been connected to the transformers plug this into a GIF outlet and turn the lights on. Spend time examining them to check they are all providing a good amount of illumination. When satisfied mount the transformers and bury the cables.

LED High Bay Light System: Things To Consider When Hiring A Professional For Installation

There are a number of things that need to be taken into consideration when you are thinking about hiring the services of a professional to install a LED high bay light system for you.

In fact hiring the services of a professional is important because installation of such lights is not as easy as you might imagine. They need to be connected in the correct way in order to ensure that they work correctly at provide the location where situated with the right amount of illumination.

When it comes to the hiring of a professional to carry out any work such as this the first thing people tend to consider is the cost. Whilst we are all looking for ways to help bring out energy costs down most of believe simply buying energy efficient appliances is the only thing we can do in order to reduce power consumption and keep electricity bills low.

What is important when it come to hiring professionals to install say an LED high bay system is to shop around and compare the costs being charged. Just because one guy charges more than another to carry out such work it doesn't then mean that they are going to do a much better job. It is much better if you look at several professionals and go with one whose fees charged seem much more realistic.

Make a short list of those who you are considering using and then do a little more background research into them. Along with looking at more closely at what their fees include, check out their reputation by reading any reviews or testimonials you can.

Don't rely solely on the ones that they have published on their website, but do a general search online by typing in their name. Also you may find that contacting your local council they may be able to tell you what kind of work these people are capable of doing. If you can speak to some of their clients who have had work done before by them.

Along with of course checking these reviews remember to check to see if they have the relevant licences that allows them to carry out this work. A quick search online again will tell you whether they have the appropriate licences or not. If you are at all concerned that they don't have what is requisite to be able to carry out such work safely then look to another professional to do the work for you.

Be aware that there are some professionals who say they can install such lighting but don't actually have the experience of doing so. You need to hire a professional who has experience of installing an LED high bay light system as they will then ensure that the lights will work properly all the time, meaning that your electricity bills over the coming months and years will begin to drop.

LED Downlight - 3 Tips To Help On Installation

The first thing you will learn about an LED downlight is that it is much more energy efficient than more conventional types such as fluorescent. This type of lighting technology has in fact been around for well over 80 years as it as developed back in the 1920's in Russia. Originally used to provide a light source for computer screens and monitors it is now being used as an indoor and outdoor lighting source as well.

When it comes to the installation of LED downlight in the home or office the same principles, which govern other forms of lighting apply to this one. In this article we offer you 3 tips that you may find useful when it comes to installing such lighting in your home.

Tip 1 - Determine Where The Lights Should Be Placed

When it comes to the installation of any kind of LED downlight bulb you need to know exactly where it is going to be situated. Normally such lighting is used to help provide some mood lighting or to help accentuate a certain item in a room. So you need to spend time planning out the exact location of the downlight so you can then get access to the wiring that will then allow it to be connected to the system.

Tip 2 - Don't Forget To Shut Off The Mains Power

As with any lighting or electrical project in the home then the mains power supply should be turned off and kept off until the work has been completed. If you fail to turn off the mains power not only are you risking your only life but you could actually cause damage to your home. By turning the power off and keeping it turned off not only will you be able to complete the project safely but also will ensure that no power surges or other hazards occur that could affect the electricity supply to your home.

Shutting off the mains power is very simple. You simpleness to find the main circuit breakers, these are typically located in a main location in the home or in the basement if you have one. In my home they are to be found at the top of the stairs near the front door. Once you have located these you simply turn the circuit off. Once you have completed the wiring of your new LED downlights you can go back to the circuit box and turn the power back on.

Tip 3 - Match Wires Accordingly

It is important to make sure that the wires located in your LED light match to the corresponding wires in your homes electrical system. You need to attach both the negative and positive wires using electrical caps to prevent any moisture or liquid from getting into the electrical system and causing it to short. Generally you should be looking to match the same colour wires to each other, that is, red to red or black to black. As for the neutral or green wire that is part of your homes electrical system or the LED downlight itself this simply needs to be capped.

6 Reasons To Replace A Fluorescent Light With A LED T8 Tube Light

Up until a few years ago most people were being put of with choosing to install any kind of LED lighting in their homes or businesses because they were simply to expensive.

However LED technology has come a long way and it is possible now to install such lighting in your home at a much lower cost especially with the introduction of the LED T8 tube light.

In fact if you are thinking of replacing any fluorescent lights in your home or business then this is the most suitable option for you. The great thing about this form of LED lighting is that you can place them such fittings where an existing T8 fluorescent fixture is fitted.

In face, you can directly replace the fluorescent tube with an LED T8 light without needing to change out the ballast (as long as what is already in there is instant start ballast).

So why should you consider replacing your current T8 fluorescent light with a LED T8 tube light?

The answer to this is quite simple really.

1. This type of light is 30% more efficient. As well as using far less wattage compared to a conventional fluorescent light they also produce much more light. Today most of the LED T8 lights use only 22 watts rather than the 28 to 32 that a fluorescent one does.

2. Such lights offer a directional light source, meaning that these emit light covering an area of 110 degrees rather than 360 degrees. So of course now all of the light emitted is hitting the intended target rather than just 30% of it.

3. An LED T8 light transfers light rather than heat. The energy used by such lights is designed to emit light rather than heat. Whereas more traditional light sources of course tend to generate heat rather than light which is why they aren't as favourable now with home or business owners.

4. Even towards the end of their light such an LED light is still going to be giving off light. On average you can expect to not need to replace one of these lights for several years because they are able to emit light for around 50,000 hours. Whereas when it comes to a fluorescent T8 light expect to have to replace it sooner as they only tend to put out light for about 14,400 hours.

5. Another important thing to remember is that the LED T8 light is much safer as it contains no mercury or glass in them. Not only is it safer on you in the home but also for the environment.

Currently around 400 pounds of mercury will end up a waste each year from bulbs because people simply cannot be bothered to worry about recycling them.

5. One final thing that to know about an LED T8 light is that these don't emit any light that is part of the UV (non visible) light spectrum. Not only can this cause damage to furniture by causing the colour in the fabric to fade but also can lead to health issues for because UV lights place strain on the eyes.

Advantages Of Outdoor LED Flood Light Fixtures

With the development of more efficient technology, science has also made a progress in educating the human kind as to what must be done and what are to be used in order to conserve the resources of this planet.

Several inventions like cars running on water and electricity are being developed in order to lessen the use of petroleum, and therefore leading to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. This will greatly help in eliminating its harmful effects, both to human beings and to the environment.

Another eco-friendly development is the creation of the LED lights. A light emitting diode, or LED, is a light source that releases energy in the form of photons. Since it offers a higher lumen per watt emission than that of ordinary light sources, it is known to save more energy than all other variants.

Though this has already been proven and tested, other people are still undecided as to whether or not they should convert to using outdoor LED flood light fixtures, given the slightly higher price range compared to that of standard light bulbs. However, once the advantages are laid out, there is no doubt as to its cost efficiency.

First, these Outdoor LED Flood Light Fixtures have a longer lasting life, compared to that of ordinary lighting systems. Records show that the LED has a life span of around 50,000 hours - this makes it outlast the traditional light bulb of up to about 50 times longer. At the same time, a single LED light fixture is composed of numerous LED emitters. This assures the user that even if one LED emitter burns out, the outdoor LED flood light fixtures will remain to be an effective source of light.

The second advantage when one converts to LED lighting is the fact that it does not produce too much heat. With the way these outdoor LED flood light fixtures were designed, it no longer emits the infrared radiation that ordinary bulbs normally emits.

In turn, LED Flood Light Fixtures no longer produce harmful UV radiation and, at the same time, leaves the light fixture at a normal temperature. This reduces the risk of any unwanted accidents, and makes it the more suitable choice for when there are plants or other flammable items nearby.

The third advantage of installing these fixtures is that the light it omits is similar to the brightness of daylight. This makes it the more convenient choice for when illuminating low-lit open spaces. At the same time, these LED floodlights produce a significantly brighter light compared to ordinary floodlights.

Finally, these Outdoor LED Flood Light Fixtures have low maintenance costs. It has already been proven that LEDs are more resilient and has a longer life than that of standard light fixtures. In general, this lessens the servicing and replacement costs.

The only known disadvantage of these LED floodlights is that the initial cost is slightly pricier than that of conventional lighting fixtures. However, once all these advantages are taken into consideration, one will soon realize that it is, indeed, a worthy investment.

Energy Conservation With Outdoor LED Flood Lighting

In these contemporary times, more and more people are becoming aware of the effects of global warming. Advocates are trying to spread the word to the people, and encourage them to join their campaigns through various forms of media.

Through these widespread campaigns, individuals have become conscious of their environment, and are now starting to save it in their own ways. The most common means of saving Mother Earth is through their household.

This is done by replacing their appliances with their eco-friendly versions. There are even others who went full-on and had solar panels installed to their homes.

But whether one has solar panels installed or not, a popular choice would be to have their standard bulbs replaced with those made with light emitting diodes or LEDs.

These Outdoor LED Flood Lighting has become a popular choice among families because of its cost effectiveness. This is due to the fact that these LEDs emit more lumens per watt than other standard light bulbs or tubes which, in turn, results in energy conservation.

In line with being cost effective is the long life of these LED lights. Since these last at least ten times longer than the other alternatives, this allows for low maintenance fees. At the same time, it assures the user that these LED bulbs will take quite some time before having them replaced.

However, these bulbs are not to be limited to indoor use only. In fact, outdoor LED flood light bulbs has already become a trend. This is not just because of their big savings, but because of the efficiency and safety they offer.

Although most of these outdoor LED flood lighting is used to light up large spaces like stadiums and football fields, others prefer to have them installed outside of their homes for added protection. And though it produces extremely bright light, these LED bulbs won't use too much power.

Another advantage of switching to commercial LED flood lighting is its low heat emissions. Standard light bulbs often converts the excess energy to heat, therefore making it unsuitable for long term use and in areas of extreme temperature.

Since these LED lights do not emit high amounts of heat, this makes it more suitable for them to be placed near plants, without causing any fire-related accidents. This also quality also makes LED bulbs the lighting of choice in either high or low temperature areas, since they are not easily affected by whatever the temperature may be in the area.

Having these outdoor LED flood lighting installed will be a worthy investment. Although the prices may be intimidating compared to standard lighting systems, these LED lights will prove that they are the more efficient and cost-effective choice in the long run.

The environment is to be protected by everyone. It is where human beings live, and get food for daily sustenance. If it is to be taken for granted, what will the future look like for their children, and their children thereafter?

That is why, as early as now, it is encouraged that ways be promoted to preserve and further protect Mother Earth. And every deed - no matter how small - will always be of help.

The Environment And LED Flood Lighting

Modernity will always come hand in hand with innovation. And what makes innovation possible is the development of science and technology. It seems that almost every aspect of life may either be explained by the latest medical discoveries, or improved with the use of the latest gadgets.

However, advocates believe that modernity is also to blame for the negative effects Mother Nature is currently trying to battle. In fact, global warming has taken worldwide recognition, and has already ignited several campaigns from environmentalists from all over the world.

Knowing the scale of such a global phenomenon, others are trying to help in the preservation of the environment through their own ways. One of the more common eco-friendly alternatives is the use of
 LED flood lighting.

Although a relatively new development, LED flood lighting has already gained popularity because of its many advantages.

Since light emitting diodes or LEDs are known to emit more lumens per watt, it has proven itself to be more efficient than other light bulbs or tubes. This results in saving energy and, in turn, allows the user to save money by the time the electric bill arrives.

Another known advantage of having LED flood lighting bulbs
is its longevity. Experiments have shown that LEDs last at least ten times longer than other lighting alternatives. This makes LEDs more cost effective than standard light bulbs and tubes.

And since these floodlights are often used to illuminate stadiums and other large spaces, it is already an advantage that LEDs produce a white beam of light. This light is similar to that of daytime, which makes it easier on the eyes for everyone in the stadium.

A key advantage of the LED flood lighting in the preservation of Mother Nature is that it does not produce harmful carbon emissions. In the same way, the manufacture of these light bulbs did not make use of mercury and lead. This assures environmental advocates that residents living near LED manufacturing factories are breathing air that is free from any hazardous emissions.

Bulbs made of LEDs are also known to emit less heat. Standard bulbs usually convert the supplied energy into heat. This, in turn, may cause fire-related accidents. Since LEDs only produce a small amount of heat, this lessens the risk brought about by rising temperatures.

It may not seem like a big deal from how things are seen at present, but taking the future into consideration, one will realize that making the switch to LED flood lighting might actually play a part in the conservation of the Earth's natural resources.

The Earth has been in existence for millions of years. Not only has it provided people with shelter, but it has also provided them with enough food and water. However, the Earth is now in danger because of all these different forms of pollution.

Human beings are mere inhabitants of this wonderful creation; therefore, it is only fair that people take care of it. If the environment is made to deteriorate in all these waste matter, where shall people live? Where else shall people get food and water? Now is the time to start to take care of the environment. No matter how small it may seem, if done continuously, it shall have a big effect in the long run.

Let There Be Light With LED Flood Light Bulbs

Flood lights are a great means for any homeowner to illuminate an outdoor space for security reasons by deterring intruders or simply as an outdoor lighting feature for outdoor parties and pool lighting. Most times, they are also used as a means of accentuating key architectural features of a building.

Flood lights can be classified into three types, facade which are used as accents; sign which are used to emphasize a signage; and general area which is used for security reasons and sporting events.

No matter what the purpose is, LED flood light bulbs have found its own niche market in the lighting industry. Moreover, consumers have also become more discerning and critical about the type of flood lights they use. After all flood lighting does have its own set of challenges and issues. Some of these include power supply, maintenance and installation.

Furthermore, concerns about the ecological footprints of such products have become one of the consumers' main concerns. Other than that is cost-effectiveness as well as durability.

Thanks to LED technology and the people behind it, all of these concerns have been addressed and now consumers are provided with a huge array of LED flood lights options that will surely guarantee their satisfaction.

LED technology has been given much hype and all for the best reasons. In terms of using it for flood lights, the advantages are just as abundant. First of all, LED lights consume less energy than regular choices such as fluorescent, incandescent and high intensity discharge (HID) bulbs. They are also durable and can last a long time. Manufacturers guarantee a 50,000-hour life span.

The lights themselves are efficient in producing instant maximum brightness-this is perfect if the flood light is utilized for security lighting and is attached to a sensor. Furthermore, LED lights do not have filaments or any moving parts hence they are completely maintenance-free. They also don't generate heat or UV rays.

You can also choose your flood lighting from a variety of featured options across the many brands in the market today. Watts can range from 11 to 300. Light distribution is also customized from spot to medium and wide flood. LED flood lighting bulbs comes in various shades of white including bright white, which is exactly like that produced by a blue-tinted fluorescent tub, soft-white, which is similar to incandescent lighting that gives off a yellowish light, and daylight, which is so bright that it is mostly used for security flood lights.

Housing finishes can also be varied. OF course, they are also waterproof and made of durable materials to enable them to stand harsh outdoor conditions like rain and snow.

Yes, the price of LED flood lights might seem expensive compared to the non-LED ones but consider it as a wise investment in your part since you will be compensated in savings and trouble later on.

Features you might want to consider for your LED flood light bulbs are dimmability (although not all have this feature), automation, remote controls and of course, warranty.

LED flood lights are, without a doubt, the best choice for your outdoor needs.

Pros And Cons Of LED High Bay Light

LED high bay fixtures can be seen in houses as well as in lavishly sprawled out areas like a sports stadium. Their superior technology is a good augury for the future as they are quite unlike the pernicious conventional lights. Their emission rate is significantly low and they also turn out to be cost-effective eventually.

To talk about the pros and cons of an LED high bay light fixtures, this discussion below can serve as an eye-opener:

Pros:

1) Compatibility: LEDs are compatible to the fixtures and are manufactured keeping in mind the everyday need of both domestic and commercial properties.

2) No Ultraviolet radiation: One of the striking features of a dimmable led flood light is that it does not emit UV rays. This is in sharp contrast to conventional bulbs which can have a heavily destructive effect on the environment in the long run. LEDs have been designed with the view of helping the planet.

3) Life cycle: Another big pro in its favor is its longevity. Every bulb and light comes with a life cycle which is usually denoted in terms of expected number of hours it will serve. While it should be suffice to say that an LED has a higher life cycle, it is also important to point out that its age can be as much as 50 times that of a regular bulb. It is this marked difference in their durability which makes LED high bay light fixtures such a huge favorite of the masses.

4) Saves energy: LEDs save money since they save energy. They are durable and this itself gives a buyer ample reason to go for them. But while the long-term asset cost is going to be advantageous, it is also vital to note that the usage of this fixture will help to save energy on the day-to-day basis.

5) Saves AC bills: It may sound weird but an LED installed at your home will help you to cut down on your AC bills. How is that so? LEDs are cooler than other bulbs in the sense that they do not give out heat waves. So, the immediate atmosphere surrounding the fixture is cooler and this is reflected through lower energy consumption by an air-conditioner.

There are myriad other benefits offered by LED high bay light fixtures but let us now direct our attention towards the cons:

Cons:

Higher investment required: The basic reason why some people are still shying away from using LEDs is that its fixtures are costlier than the fixtures of conventional technology. However, the heartening bit is that despite the higher initial cost, the buyer gets to save in the form of reduced power bills. So, it gets compensated before long.

May not be feasible for certain specific situations: high bay light, dimmable LED high bay fixtures is great for common situations but may not be able to meet the lumen requirements in certain specific cases. However, having said so, such situations are uncommon and only applicable during emergencies or other unforeseeable contingencies.

Why Businesses Should Install An LED Tube Lamp System

Does the use of an LED tube lamp system impact on my homes heat gain and power quality? Are there other factors to take into consideration before you choose to install such lighting in your home?

Did you know that more than 18% of all electricity generated in America today is used by commercial premises. However of this 18% around 5% of it is used to remove the heat energy that is generated by conventional lighting systems installed in such premises.

Whilst cost savings can be immediately identified, any business that doesn't take into consideration the technical aspects of using such a lighting system may then miss out on other potential savings relating to other aspects of their premises.

The kinds of savings that businesses will benefit from are as follows:

1. Keep Air Conditioning Costs Down

Not only do conventional lighting system produce large amounts of light they also produce large amounts of radiated heat. Yes the heat they produce may prove welcome when the weather is cold, but can prove very counter productive when it is warm.

Whereas when it comes to say an LED tube lamp you'll find that they do produce heat, but far less compared to conventional lighting. As a result even when the lights are on during the summer months they won't cause heat to build up within a building meaning that you have to run your air conditioning system more often.

In fact you may find that by installing a good quality LED lighting system in a business premises could result in you being able to install a cooling system that is smaller and therefore cheaper to run.

2. Better Power Quality

Most business owners tend to never consider what impact power quality can have on their electricity bills. All businesses should be concerned about the power quality because if they don't it can lead to other issues such as:

- More energy wasted

- Causes the buildings electrical capacity to be reduced

- Can cause damage to equipment

- Can cause disruption to the entire buildings electrical distribution system

- Costs each month will go up rather than down

Also when a buildings power quality improves this could lead to the possibility of valuable electrical capacity being made available. Not only could this result in annual electrical costs for the building being reduced, but could lead to ensuring that costs of operating equipment within the building are kept down. Just imagine how it would feel if you find that you aren't having to replace parts as frequently on equipment.

So for any business to ensure that not only are they keeping costs down but also ensuring that they are providing their employees with a safe working environment investing in a good LED lighting system should be considered. Okay the initial cost of installation of such a system including the installation of several LED tube lamp systems is high but over the light time of the system the savings made will prove very beneficial indeed.

Why You Must Choose To Prefer To Install An LED Fluorescent Tube

Fed up with having to spend time and money regularly replacing the fluorescent tubes in your home or office? If you are then now is the time to think about replacing such with an LED fluorescent tube.

Yet I may be somewhat biased when it comes to telling you to invest in such lighting, but I can provide you with plenty of reasons based on fact as to why you should be considering replacing your current fluorescent lighting with the LED kind.

1. They Are 30% More Efficient

As well as producing more light compared to a conventional fluorescent tube they also use much less power (wattage). In a conventional tube they will use between 28 and 32 watts, whereas when it comes to an LED tube light it only uses 22 watts.

2. Provides You With A Directional Light Source

Such fixtures emit light in a 110 degree pattern where as conventional fluorescent lighting emits light in a 360 degree pattern. Therefore only 30% of the light emitted by such will actually light up the area where they have been situated.

What this actually means is that not all the available light emitted by the fluorescent tube is being used, in fact a substantial part of it is used for lighting the fixture itself. The only way to ensure that more light is reflected where needed with this type of lighting is through the adding of reflectors, this is something that LED fluorescent lamps don't need.

3. Generate Less Heat

When turned on the energy supplied to LED lights is actually used to produce the light. However with more traditional forms of lighting you have in your home or business the energy they use is turned into heat which in turn is then used to generate the light. As a result of this because they use less energy LED lights are more cost effective.

4. Provide Light At The End Of Their Life

Generally when it comes to an LED fluorescent tube the light will gradually start to become less brighter over time. However when it comes to conventional fluorescent tubes you'll find that they just stop working without any prior warning.

If you were to continue using conventional fluorescent tubes over the new LED type you will find yourself having to replace them much more frequently as they normally only have a life span of around 14,000 hours, where as LED ones have a life span of around 50,000 hours.

5. They Don't Emit UV Light

All LED lights including the fluorescent tube variety don't emit any kind of light that is part of the UV (non visible light spectrum). As they don't emit such light the strain placed on your eyes is far less so being able to work or read by such light isn't an issue.

6. Emit All Different Kinds Of Light

Even though there are some conventional fluorescent light tubes now available that emit a much warmer colour because they use a different form of phosphorous powder in them, it tends to still be quite a start light.

However when it comes to LED lighting these are able to provide a variety of different colours which can be used for a variety of different purposes, making them so much more adaptable and meaning that they can be used for almost any kind of lighting situation or for any kind of environment.

So as you can see from above investing time and money and installing any type of LED fluorescent tube in your home or business can prove very worthwhile.

4 Benefits Of Installing LED Tube Lights Now

We've all become more concerned with ways of helping to keep the costs of living down. Certainly when it comes to our homes we are regularly looking for ways to reduce our energy bills. Installation of LED tube light bulbs has become very popular as it has been proven that it helps to save energy.

Benefit 1 - Have A Longer Operating Life

We are all interested to be able to use light sources that aren't only reliable but will also last a long time. Having to replace lights frequently isn't only expensive from the maintenance angle but if the lamps fail then they can lead a business being faced with health and safety issues.

Yes saving money on maintaining lights is one reason why use of these types of LED lights has become popular. Currently the technology used in creating such lighting means that they are able to operate more than 100 times longer than incandescent lights are able to and also 20 times longer than fluorescent lights.

Benefit 2 - Less Heat Radiated

Over the past 3 years the technology used in LED tube light bulb has meant that they have the ability to convert more of the energy the produce into light rather than heat. Whereas when it comes to conventional lighting most of the power they generate turns into IR (infrared radiation), which provides yet another source of radiated heat. As most homes and offices today are now fitted with air conditioning because far less radiated heat is being produced this then means that loads placed on an air conditioning system are reduced. In an office for example replacing their current lighting with LED could result in an energy saving of up to 20%.

Benefit 3 - Very Little Light Lost

As LED's offer a directional light source they can be placed where they are needed the most. But as for conventional light sources these generally have a more uniformed emission that goes in all directions. This results in lower light efficiency because of the light that is being lost. For example if you have fluorescent lights in your home or office around 40 to 60% of the light emitted by them is actually lost within the fixture and its diffuser.

However, when it comes to LED tube light bulbs these are able to illuminate spaces more effectively even though they emit less light because the light source is more controlled and directional. In fact far fewer photons become trapped within such light fittings.

Benefit 4 - Can Be Controlled Better

As these types of fixtures come with the ability to dim, they just need a separate dimming circuit in order to control them, it means you are able to reduce how many hours the system operates for. In turn of course this leads to more savings on your energy bills. However you will need to invest in dimming systems specifically designed for use with this form of lighting, but the initial investment is worth it when you take into account the savings you are gong to be making over the coming months and years.

LED Flood Light System: What Are The Benefits?

LED Flood lights is a kind of floodlighting fixtures that offer even illumination across a wide area such as the yard, square, stadium, stage or other spacious locations. Once in a time, metal halide and high pressure sodium are commonly used in for floodlight sources.

Light Emitting Diode are introduced into this area recently due to the rapid development of LED manufacturing and packaging. Compared to conventional lighting sources, LED has unprecedented advantages which accommodates the needs for energy-saving and less maintenance.

This article would explain the advantages of LED flood lighting system in detail and some disadvantages will also be mentioned for your quick reference.

Advantages of LED Floodlights:

LED flood lighting, no matter the lamps or the integrated fixtures are compatible to standard flood lamps or fixtures. It means that you can buy a LED flood lamps and install it in a few minutes. Or if you want to use a LED flood light fixture, you just need remove the old fixture and replace it with the new one simply.

They don't generate too much heat. Due to the lighting mechanism, LEDs have no IR radiation, which increases the ambient temperature rapidly. It means less cost for air conditioning. Moreover, there is no harmful UV radiation and the fixture body maintains at an acceptable temperature due to the high-efficiency of LEDs.

As mentioned above, LED is the most efficient lighting source than the conventional metal halide or high sodium. The lumen per watt record are frequently in labs around the world. And LEDs in mass production can reach around 90~100 lumen per watt. The value already exceeded that of HPS (High Pressure Sodium) and Metal halide, which was the most efficient light sources previously.

Long life-cycle is the most amazing advantage of LED lighting. The rated life of LED is around 50,000 hours, which is the period from initial 100% lumen output to 50%. The lifespan is 10~50 times of the traditional lighting sources. Moreover, LED floodlights use chips that assembled with tens of single LEDs or integrated high power emitters. There is no impact on the functions if one or several lighting units burn out. So it's more robust than other conventional lamps.

The unique feature of LED allows it to generate different colors easily without filters. This gains an extra energy-saving as there is no waste because of filtering. Moreover, LED floodlights are more compact in size and integrative without extra optical fixtures.

Disadvantages of LED flood lights

The initial cost is higher than traditional lamps. Generally, LED lights are 3~5 times more expensive than conventional lamps. While the operation cost may be much less, as there are much less energy bills, fees of frequent lamp replacement and labor of maintenance.

LED flood lights are not powerful enough for some critical applications that need extra-high lumen. Due to heat sinking limitation, a LED flood light fixtures can not exceed 200 Watts very easily. So it's hard to reach 10,000 lumens for LED flood lights. In this aspect, HPS or metal halide can reach the goal easily as there is not too much concern of heat dissipation for them.

In brief, LED flood lighting system can replace conventional lamps for floodlights applications in many cases. The new LED technology are the ecological solutions that gains in less power consumption and less maintenance. The barrier to mass application mainly comes from the high initial cost and limited total lumen output.

What Are The Benefits Of LED Light

Nowadays LED light bulb are used for many lighting applications. The reason for their becoming so popular is their energy efficiency. In fact, they have already proved to be a better option to incandescent and fluorescent lamps, which we have been using for a long time.

An LED light can work upto about fifty thousand hours. Of course, its life depends under which conditions it works. Under ideal conditions, it should not be exposed to moisture and excessive cold or hot temperatures.

LED lamps are available in white, green, red, blue, white or amber colors. The color emitted by a diode is decided by the energy gap of the material used for making its p-n junction. The composition of a diode is a slice of N-type material, carrying a negative charge and another slice of P-type material, with a positive charge, having electrodes at either end.

The point where the two kinds of materials are joined forms a p-n junction. The energy gaps of different types of p and n materials are different and measured in terms of wavelengths, which results to having light in different colors.

When light is to be directed to a particular point, you can employ LED lights. Compared to traditional options of lighting, these lights prove much more fitted for this purpose.

Usual incandescent lamps are notoriously energy inefficient. Nearly ninety percent of their energy consumption gets wasted due to the heat produced by them. Conversely, LED lamps consume 75% less energy compared to incandescent lamps, and produce just 3-4 BTUs/ hour, while incandescent lamps produce 85 BTUs of heat.

The energy consumption of LEDs is just 2-10 watts. That is 1/3 to 1/30 of what is consumed by incandescent lamps or CFLs. The lifespan of an LED bulb is 35-50 times more than incandescent lamps and 2-5 times more of fluorescent lamps. As per the estimates of the U.S. Department of Energy, extensive use of LED lighting during the coming twenty years can help saving nearly $265 billion, amount enough for making forty additional power plants, thus reducing the demand of power for lighting by about 33 %.

A wider beam of light can be generated by bunching together a number of LED light bulbs. A process using low-priced silicon wafers in place of pricey sapphire-based technology has already been developed by the researchers of the Purdue University. These developments would help a lot in replacing the usual incandescent and even CFL bulbs.

The Difference Between LED Lights And Regular Light Bulbs

If you are thinking of how to replace your lighting system with new residential LED ceiling lights, then you are probably reviewing all of the information about this technology and what such a change needs. But, if you are not knowledgeable about the differences between the two, you may be hesitant to pay the upfront costs that come with installing residential LED ceiling lights.

You will want to make sure you know what these lights are and how they work. This type of light gets its name from the fact that it is based off a light emitting diode. In fact, these little plastic pieces are not bulbs at all but rather are very small semiconductors that have been cordoned off and separated by a plastic dome. This dome assists to protect the light that is being emitted as well as focuses it on a specific area.

On the other hand, a regular light bulb uses a filament. This filament does not produce any reaction until power is directly applied. When this happens, the filament begins to glow red hot, which in turn creates light as a byproduct. This is known as a hot process, and it takes a lot of energy.

LED ceiling light bulbs are different because they rely on a cold process to produce light. This means that the light you are seeing is not a product of immense heat. Instead, electrons are stimulated in the semiconductor when electricity is applied, and the light is a side effect of this stimulation that produces photons, which then appear in the visible light spectrum.

The reason that traditional light bulbs need so much energy is that the filament must remain heated at all times to produce the light. When these filaments get too hot for too long, they burn out and have to be replaced. This is less likely to happen because of the lack of heat. Because of these factors, they use a lot less energy and last longer, making them a lot more efficient.

Since most residential LED ceiling lights do not have the same wattage as traditional lights, you will have to use more bulbs for the same effect. However, even though you are using two or three times the number of traditional ones, you are using much less energy overall. That is definitely something to consider in terms of cost and efficiency. You may want to ask your local government office about energy programs that offer rebates when you upgrade your electrical system to this new technology.
