The Differences Between Ceiling Lights And LED Ceiling Light Fixtures

So, what is the differences between normal ceiling lights and LED ceiling lights? As you may know, these type of LED lights create a somber mood with the great ambience they create.

With the recent developments, a lot of people are turning to LED ceiling lighting. But, many are still considering whether to make them move and wonder if such ceiling light bulbs are a great alternative.

This can only be ascertained by taking a look at the different kinds of ceiling bulbs which are available in the market and seeing both their advantages and disadvantages.

There are various types of ceiling light bulbs such as the traditional bulbs, the fluorescent lights (CFL), halogen bulbs and the LED ceiling light bulbs. All these have been introduced with changing times and the incandescent light bulbs are among the first kind of bulbs.

They have a bright light though they are easily overshadowed in all aspects by other types. They are also not efficient. The CFL bulbs are more energy efficient as compared to the incandescent bulbs and they also have a brighter light. But, their elongated shape makes them unfit in certain situations.

They also contain mercury which is harmful to human health. Halogen bulbs are the brightest of all, they are also very compact. But, they emit a lot of heat making them a fire hazard and are also not efficient in terms of energy consumption.

They are the best currently out there. The reason is, they are unparalleled in energy efficiency and guarantee great savings in this regard. This kind of LED ceiling light bulbs need very little amounts of energy for lighting.

As such, this enables savings of about 70% of the usual amount required when using other lighting light bulbs. As such, you can reduce the electricity bills. They also emit very little heat and so you will not have to use fans to cool the room thereby saving on energy use.

Secondly, these LED ceiling light fixtures are durable and long lasting. They are not prone to burning and can last up to 50,000 hours compared to 5,000 hours of CFL and halogen bulbs and 1,000 hours of incandescent light bulbs. They are durable and rust proof.

Also, they are very safe, both to the environment and human beings. They do not produce Chlorofluorocarbons and as such do not contain harmful substances like mercury.

Their cool lighting also allows them to be near inflammable substances. Although their upfront cost could be high, their savings make up for this in the long run.

The Difference Between LED Lights And Regular Light Bulbs

If you are thinking of how to replace your lighting system with new residential LED ceiling lights, then you are probably reviewing all of the information about this technology and what such a change needs. But, if you are not knowledgeable about the differences between the two, you may be hesitant to pay the upfront costs that come with installing residential LED ceiling lights.

You will want to make sure you know what these lights are and how they work. This type of light gets its name from the fact that it is based off a light emitting diode. In fact, these little plastic pieces are not bulbs at all but rather are very small semiconductors that have been cordoned off and separated by a plastic dome. This dome assists to protect the light that is being emitted as well as focuses it on a specific area.

On the other hand, a regular light bulb uses a filament. This filament does not produce any reaction until power is directly applied. When this happens, the filament begins to glow red hot, which in turn creates light as a byproduct. This is known as a hot process, and it takes a lot of energy.

LED ceiling light bulbs are different because they rely on a cold process to produce light. This means that the light you are seeing is not a product of immense heat. Instead, electrons are stimulated in the semiconductor when electricity is applied, and the light is a side effect of this stimulation that produces photons, which then appear in the visible light spectrum.

The reason that traditional light bulbs need so much energy is that the filament must remain heated at all times to produce the light. When these filaments get too hot for too long, they burn out and have to be replaced. This is less likely to happen because of the lack of heat. Because of these factors, they use a lot less energy and last longer, making them a lot more efficient.

Since most residential LED ceiling lights do not have the same wattage as traditional lights, you will have to use more bulbs for the same effect. However, even though you are using two or three times the number of traditional ones, you are using much less energy overall. That is definitely something to consider in terms of cost and efficiency. You may want to ask your local government office about energy programs that offer rebates when you upgrade your electrical system to this new technology.
