How To Install An LED Tube Light

The sale of LED tube light fittings for homes has substantially increased in recent years. The main reason for this being that most people are coming to realize just how cost effective such lighting can be.

If you do decide to invest money buying such lighting for your home you could either pay someone to install the new light fittings for you or you can do the work yourself. We would only recommend you install the light fittings yourself if you fully know what you are doing and of course you have the right tools.

When it comes to installing an LED tube light in your home there are certain things that you should be doing. Below we take you through the things that need to be done in order to install such a light in your home.

Step 1 - Before you can replace your current fluorescent light with an LED one the first thing you need to understand is that the current one is made up of three components. Within a fluorescent light you will find ballast, a starter and the tube light which all have to be removed and got rid of in the correct manner. Dumping them directly in the bin isn't the right way you will be required to take them to a recycling plant.

Step 2 - Before you begin removing your current tube light you must make sure that all power to that area of the home has been turned off. If you need to turn off power to your home completely rather than to that particular area. Also make sure that you have the necessary tools with you before removal of the tube light begins. The kinds of tools you will need to carry out removal of such a fitting to replace with a new LED tube light are a screwdriver, a wire stripper and a wire cutter plus items such as wire and nuts and bolts.

Step 3 - To remove the current fluorescent tube light you need to first remove the cover. Generally this just slides out and should be placed to one side. If you can get someone to help you by taking away the components as you hand them down to them.

Step 4 - The next thing you need to do is of course remove the fluorescent tube, be very careful, as you don't want to break it. Once the tube has been taken out you can now start to remove the rest of the fluorescent light fitting. To remove the part mounted to the ceiling simply requires you to remove some screws that are holding flush against the ceiling. Be careful and make sure that you disconnect this part of the light from the wiring properly. Most times you will find it is a very simple case of undoing a couple of screws and the wires will come loose.

Step 5 - Once you have finally removed the old tube light you are ready to install the new LED tube light. You simply have to do the steps mentioned above in reverse

The Basics Of LED Light Tubes 101

Adequate lighting is important for a working environment, a cooking environment, and just for simple living. Everybody complains after Daylight Savings Time ends that it is so dark so early and they just cannot wait to get to bed - that statement itself should reflect how important lighting is in our lives. There are programs available that will change the tone and intensity of the light on your computer at a certain time during the day to reduce strain on your eyes and get you more ready for bed.

Lights are available in all shapes, colors, sizes, and types. The most well known light is an incandescent bulb, which has changed very little since Thomas Edison invented it back in the 1800s. An incandescent light bulb is made up of a glass housing, molded into its characteristic shape in a process called glass blowing, and a coiled tungsten wire. The coiled tungsten wire is what absorbs the electricity supplied to it, and glows red hot. The energy is then released as heat and light. Fluorescent light bulbs came onto the scene and brought with them a new shape. Fluorescent lights were available in long tubes, commonly seen in high bay lights, embedded into a ceiling, or they were available in the flattened light bulbs now often seen in newly renovated kitchens. Fluorescent bulbs contained a mercury and argon gas which became excited when electricity flowed through, leading to a release of ultraviolet light which was absorbed by the fluorescent phosphorus coating on the inside of the light, which would then release light in the visible spectrum. Next, LED tube lights were invented and are quickly becoming popular. LEDs are available as LED tube lighting, light bulbs, and flood lights for sport fields. LED light tubes don't possess dangerous gases like fluorescent lights and they don't release as much heat as an incandescent bulb, making them incredibly efficient.

LED light tubes are great for any who wishes to renovate his house, or an office or a warehouse building. While LED lights may be more costly to buy initially, they quickly pay for themselves. The problem with incandescent light bulbs and compact fluorescent lights is the manner in which they release their energy. Due to how they release their energy, they waste a lot of it as heat. This will result in not only a higher electric bill for less light, but also an increased electric bill in order to run a fan or air conditioning unit to keep the room or building cool. In addition to this, LED tube lights bring with them many more utility rebates. This is because of how green they are, an effect of the reduced amount of carbon monoxide they use, and how efficiently they use the electricity given to them.

The Basic Information On LED Tubes

Fluorescent lighting have become more popular in the households and offices. However, recent researches have found out that these can be very harmful to the environment. There are chances for the occurrence of severe head aches in the people who are exposed to fluorescent light tubes for a long time. These lights contain mercy and lead that are risky to the environment. Even when these lights are disposed they remain as harmful toxic waste.

LED tube light that does not emit mercury or any other kind of toxic gases is the new innovation which is popularly recommended to replace usual traditional bulbs and other fluorescent light tubes. LEDs are more environment friendly and cost effective. They consume less that 60% of the energy consumed by incandescent lamps. These will have a longer lifespan and also it will remain intact for 50,000 to 100,000 hours.

LED is a light emitting diode. It is a semiconductor diode which emits light. They are manufactured using a different technology as compared to fluorescent lights. Fluorescent lights use electrodes and a combination of argon and mercury to produce light. However, LEDs are small bulbs which produce light. The movement of electrons in the diode helps in producing light. A LED tube is made of hundreds of LEDs. The indicator bulbs in the LED tube lights produce low intensity red light or bright light.

The LEDs are popularly used by commercial and motor industries, agriculture sector and also in the traffic lights. It is a simple task to install this tube. It is designed for a drop in replacement for fluorescent tubes. However sometimes a bit of modifications need to be made.

The cost of the light tube is expensive when compared to fluorescent lights. The cost is usually $50 to $100. As the life span of these lights is more, it will not be a loss even if you spend these much money. These light tubes come in various sizes and colors. The available sizes are 2, 4 or 6 feet. And these light tubes can be disposed like any other waste. They can be bought along with new fixtures. These do not require ballasts which are commonly used by fluorescent light tubes and so when these tubes are fixed ballasts are to be removed.

With all these benefits, LED tubes are gaining popularity over the traditional bulbs. These are efficient energy savers and consumer friendly.

Today as you will see there are plenty of places online that offer advice and information with regards to LED lighting. So being able to make a more informed decision with regards to the kind of lighting you should be getting becomes a lot easier.

However when looking to purchasing these kinds of lights there are several things that you will need to take into consideration first.

Below we take a look at just what some of these considerations are. If you keep in mind the things that we discuss below then purchasing the best possible LED tube lights for your warehouse is going to prove less of a challenge.

Firstly, when you are trying to decide what size light to buy you needs to be looking for ones that will be able to light a room sufficiently where they are to be installed. In order to find out what size is required you should look at how many watts the lights use. Remember the more watts the light uses to provide light then the much brighter it will be.

Secondly, the next thing to be considered when it comes to buying any kind of LED light is what sort of color you want yours to emit. Again this is something that will affect how bright the light they emit is. Plus of course you need to make sure that the lights you select are ones that are suitable for the way in which you intend to use them.

Thirdly, another thing that will of course determine what sorts of LED fluorescent lights you buy for your warehouse is how much you can afford to realistically spend on your purchase. What Are The Benefits Of LED Tube Lighting in Singapore?

Most people including scientists and researchers are looking for ways to improve the environment, They have been attempting to create an alternative to the traditional tube lighting. This lighting is now being replaced with LED tube lighting which is more cost effective and also very environmentally friendly. The use of fluorescent lamps have grown in the last few years to include homes and offices. This is because they are more cost effective than incandescent bulbs. They also give off better light than normal light bulbs.

But there are some problems with fluorescent tube lighting. The ballast and plugs for this type of lighting must be wired into a home or office. Once installed it is very difficult to replace the lighting because of the ballast and plugs that are used for this tube lighting. The LED to has been designed to be a drop-in replacement for the fluorescent bulb.

The LED tube does not contain mercury or toxic gases and it consumes less than 60% of the energy used by incandescent lamps. The fluorescent tubes use less than 14 to 24 W of energy. The lifespan of these tubes is between 50,000 and 100,000 hours and as such making them very cost effective and efficient.

When installing the LED lighting tubes, there is no need for a ballast. This removes much of the effort that is required and placing and replacing the tubes. The operating temperature of this lighting is only 100 degrees making it possible to remove or replace the lighting when needed without waiting for it to cool down.

The light tubes are made using a long silicon substrate containing several LEDs. The LEDs are space out that the lighting is smooth and even across the two. This substrate is then encased in a glass tube which makes it ready to be installed. Since the tubes contain no chemicals or toxins and as such they can be disclosed as regular waste.

When selecting the correct LED lighting for your home or office, you may need to consider the level of light that you require in that area. There are different levels of light available with the LED lighting tubes which can generate a bright glow in a row, or give it a soft feel. Maintaining the environmental standards of the room will be very simple once you use the energy-efficient LED fluorescent lamps which have the level of light that you require.

Talking to an individual who has knowledge and expertise and the types of LED tube lighting available will be very helpful. This individual will be able to give you information and data about the advantages of switching from your fluorescent tube lighting to LED. The cost savings over the long term are quite significant when the LED tube lighting is used.

The Beginner's Guide To LED Light Tubes

Light tubes, whether LED or not, are exactly what they sound like. They are composed of a glass or silicon outer shell that houses a lighting structure. They are tubular shaped, and usually mounted in ceilings, behind a glass or plastic shield. They are commonly seen, and most people might recognize them from here, in school buildings or even gymnasiums. Less commonly, light tubes are present in walk-in coolers, offices, warehouses, and even some people are putting them in their houses for the garage or kitchen. LED tube lights are known for producing a better, stronger light more effectively and with less waste. Due to their decreased carbon footprint, LED light tubes are becoming more common and are available for many more rebates than other kinds of lights.

LED tube lights are touted to release seventy percent less carbon monoxide than fluorescent lights, and the difference between LED lights and incandescent lights is said to be even greater. It also do not possess the dangerous mercury and argon gases that are necessary for a fluorescent light to function. For this reason, LED tube lights are beginning to take over the once famous fluorescent tube lights, despite the difference in start up cost. LED lights have proven themselves to be more energy efficient, due to their diode allowing current to flow in only one direction. The light is targeted and focused, released at about a one hundred and twenty degree angle.

This is in comparison to traditional incandescent and fluorescent lights that scatter it randomly. It also produce much less heat than other forms of lighting, allowing those needing the light to be comfortable in their own space and also preventing the necessity of the air conditioning unit running all day. These factors alone greatly decrease the electricity bills and make the investment of LED tube lights more and more worth it. Because of the decrease in carbon monoxide gas, the low amount of electricity wasted as heat, and the fact that they're so recyclable, owners of LED light bulbs are eligible for many more rebates than if their entire building was outfitted with archaic incandescent lights.

One LED tube lights is normally around sixty to seventy dollars, making them a bit of a hefty investment, especially a normal light fixture usually needs two to four of those tubes. But, with the monthly decrease in energy bills, and the rebates available for owning these kinds of lights, it is becoming more and more practical for business and homeowners to make the investment. Additionally, LED lights are not just available in tubes anymore and are quite commonly made in standard light bulb shape, meaning they can replace almost any light bulb in the house.
