What Are The Advantages Of LED Light Tubes?

LED light tubes are the latest trend in the lighting industry, and they come equipped with great features.

These lights are better substitutes to fluorescent lights; with products like Flexible LED as well as LED T5 and LED T8 tubes

LED fluorescent lights can also be used both in a working environment and at home. They are particularly better than other traditional lighting in terms of energy consumption, durability, brightness and maintenance costs.

These lights are in fact safer to use. There is no toxic material (like mercury) in LED light tubes, unlike fluorescent.

Mercury dust contained in fluorescent tubes pose serious health threat to anybody exposed to it, especially those who work with them; like electricians.

A broken fluorescent tube in a room releases mercury into the air, and the mercury could last for up to four hours in the air. Mercury is capable of causing asthma and some other respiratory problems.

But when LED are used, these health concerns are removed. LED light bulbs are also easier to install compared to fluorescent bulbs.

You do not need to use ballast, just fix the LED light bulbs into sizes T5 and T8 sockets used for fluorescent tubes.

As energy-efficient as fluorescent light lamps were considered to be in the past, these light tubes have surpassed them when it comes to energy consumption efficiency.

The fact that LED consume less energy which makes them great lighting alternatives for use in corporate organizations and at homes as this would help reduce the electricity bill payable for putting lights on by up to half.

They are also useful in stemming the rising trend of global warming. LED tube lights use only about 30 percent of energy that fluorescent bulbs use to produce a particular level of brightness.

They also save you money because they last much longer than fluorescent tubes; this is made possible by the more reliable solid state lighting that LED light tubes are.

The flickering that is sometimes experienced when a fluorescent light bulb is switched on is a big benefit for fluorescents. This flickering has been proven to be capable of causing headaches to those in its vicinity.

The micro-pulse wavelength being emitted by the flickering fluorescent bulb is said to be responsible for such headaches.

On the other hand, LED do not flicker when switched on, thereby nullifying all concerns about experiencing headaches and disorientations.

LED light tubes produce uniform light output, unlike fluorescent bulbs that sometimes dim out as they develop hot spots capable of causing eye strain.

The heat generated by fluorescent tube is responsible for these hot spots which could make the tube fuse quickly.

Although some people consider LED to be rather too expensive when acquiring them, but if you look at it in the long run, you'd discover them to be the the less expensive lighting alternatives.

The Basics Of LED Light Tubes 101

What are LED light tubes?  Lighting is incredibly important for day-to-day life. Adequate lighting is important for a working environment, a cooking environment, and just for simple living.

Everybody complains after Daylight Savings Time ends that it is so dark so early and they just cannot wait to get to bed - that statement itself should reflect how important lighting is in our lives.

There are programs available that will change the tone and intensity of the light on your computer at a certain time during the day to reduce strain on your eyes and get you more ready for bed.

Lights are available in all shapes, colors, sizes, and types. The most well known light is an incandescent bulb, which has changed very little since Thomas Edison invented it back in the 1800s.

An incandescent light bulb is made up of a glass housing, molded into its characteristic shape in a process called glass blowing, and a coiled tungsten wire. The coiled tungsten wire is what absorbs the electricity supplied to it, and glows red hot. The energy is then released as heat and light.

Fluorescent light bulbs came onto the scene and brought with them a new shape. Fluorescent lights were available in long tubes, commonly seen in high bay lights, embedded into a ceiling, or they were available in the flattened light bulbs now often seen in newly renovated kitchens.

These type of bulbs contained a mercury and argon gas which became excited when electricity flowed through, leading to a release of ultraviolet light which was absorbed by the fluorescent phosphorus coating on the inside of the light, which would then release light in the visible spectrum.

Next, LED tube lights were invented and are quickly becoming popular. LEDs are available as LED tube lighting, light bulbs, and flood lights for sport fields. These light tubes don't possess dangerous gases like fluorescent lights and they don't release as much heat as an incandescent bulb, making them incredibly efficient.

LED light tubes are great for any who wishes to renovate his house, or an office or a warehouse building. While these lights may be more costly to buy initially, they quickly pay for themselves.

The problem with incandescent light bulbs and compact fluorescent lights is the manner in which they release their energy. Due to how they release their energy, they waste a lot of it as heat.

This will result in not only a higher electric bill for less light, but also an increased electric bill in order to run a fan or air conditioning unit to keep the room or building cool.

In addition to this, LED tube lights bring with them many more utility rebates. This is because of how green they are, an effect of the reduced amount of carbon monoxide they use, and how efficiently they use the electricity given to them.

Is There Any Energy Saving With LED Fluorescent Tubes

Can you save with LED fluorescent tubes?  There are millions of general service fluorescent tubes in the market place today, until recently these were considered the most energy efficient lighting solution available.

The disadvantage to this form of lighting is that each light tube contains a small amount of mercury vapour, a toxic heavy metal.

In fact, this can provide not just a health risk when the tubes are broken, however it can also accumulate in landfills before entering the water table or causing further pollution.

Recent developments in SMD (Surface Mount Diode) LED technology have now meant that LED based fluorescent tubes are now a reality.

LEDs are a more efficient form of lighting product consisting of small chips of conductive material that release light when a current is applied to them.

They contain no filaments and can produce up to 25 times more light per watt than conventional light bulbs.

LED fluorescent tubes
require far less energy in their manufacture than fluorescent tubes, and only 3% of the energy they will consume over their life expectancy is consumed in their manufacture.

They are also produced from non toxic materials. The light tubes are made from polycarbonate, a material which is more robust and durable than glass, so accidents will not need special cleanup procedures.

While LED technology is more expensive than existing fluorescents at face value, they will last up to 10 times as long, while consuming 65% less energy.

In most general purpose lighting applications the additional cost of the LED fluorescent lights will more than pay for itself within the first 12 months.

The only drawback is the tighter beam angle of the LEDs, while some tubes are manufactured from a polycarbonate light diffusing material, others have a narrow focus which may not be suitable for replacing existing tubes.

Many fluorescent fixtures are designed with reflectors that help to distribute the light from the tubes evenly in their intended environment.

What Are The Advantages Of LED Lights Over Fluorescent Lights

LED fluorescent lights are better substitutes to fluorescent lights; with products like Flexible LED as well as LED T5 and LED T8 light tubes. They can also be used both in a working environment and at home.

And also, they are particularly better than other traditional lighting in terms of energy consumption, durability, brightness and maintenance costs.

LED lamp bulb is safer to use. There is no toxic material (like mercury) in LED lights as compared to fluorescent tubes. Mercury dust contained in fluorescent tubes pose serious health threat to anybody exposed to it.

A broken fluorescent light tube in a room releases mercury into the air, and the mercury could last for up to four hours in the air. This mercury is capable of causing asthma and some other respiratory problems.

However when LED are used, these health concerns are removed. LED replacement bulbs are also easier to install compared to fluorescent light bulbs.  Residential LED lighting has surpassed them when it comes to energy consumption efficiency.
