The Difference Between Commercial LED Lights And Fluorescent Lights


Are there differences between commercial LED lights  and other fluorescent lights at all? Recent news reveals that the world is actually having problems with electricity supply. 

Power shortage has taken researchers to make drastic measures to be able to solve this problem.

There is the development of two forms of light, which is the Light-emitting Diode or LEDs and the Compact Fluorescent Light or CFL, that is aimed on solving electricity shortage issues.

Actually, it consumes about a quarter of energy which is consumed by an incandescent light bulb. An incandescent bulb is a source of electric light which works through the process of incandescence.

This is meant that it is is heat-driven light emissions and so it consumes much energy too. It is also known that CFL has a shorter life span as compared to LED.

LED or light-emitting diode produces light just like CFL however it does not contain filament and it does not involve heating and so it basically does not consume too much energy. 

As compared with an incandescent bulb, the LED light tubes are more efficient in producing light as this only consumes about 9% of energy compared to the light bulb. 

One good thing about LED lights is that it lasts longer compared to that of a CFL's capacity to produce light. LED lights are more effective compared to CFL. 

It is a bit more expensive however you can use it longer than CFL, so you do not need to change lights at frequent intervals. 

There are a few suppliers which make poor quality LED and you must be aware of such as they do not work properly and they are more of a disadvantage than an advantage.

Differences Between Commercial LED Lights And Other Light Bulbs


Are there differences between commercial LED lights and other bulbs?  You see, if you are considering replacing your current lighting system with new commercial LED lights, then you are probably reviewing all of the information about this technology and what such a change requires. 

But, if you are not knowledgeable about the differences between these two, you may be hesitant to pay the initial costs that come with installing commercial LED lights

Firstly, you will need to make sure you know what they are and how does these work. This type of light gets its name from the fact that it is based off a light emitting diode. 


Actually, these little plastic pieces are not bulbs at all but rather are very small semiconductors that have been cordoned off and separated by a plastic dome. This dome helps to protect the light that is being emitted as well as focuses it on a specific area.

Comparably, a traditional light bulb uses a filament. This filament does not produce any reaction until power is directly applied. When this happens, the filament begins to glow red hot, which in turn creates light as a byproduct. This is known as a hot process, and it takes a lot of energy. 


LED lighting bulbs are different as they rely on a cold process to produce light. Which means that the light you are seeing is not a product of immense heat. Instead, electrons are stimulated in the semiconductor when electricity is applied, and the light is a side effect of this stimulation which produces photons, it then appear in the visible light spectrum.

Traditional light bulbs require so much energy is because the filament must remain heated at all times to produce the light. When these filaments get too hot for too long, they tend to burn out and have to be replaced. Because of these factors, they use a lot less energy and last longer, making them a lot more efficient.

Since most of the 
commercial LED light bulbs do not have the same wattage as conventional lights, you will have to use more light bulbs for the same effect. But, even though you are using two or three times the number of conventional lights, you are using much less energy overall. 


That is definitely something to consider in terms of cost and efficiency. You may want to ask your local government office about energy programs that offer rebates when you upgrade your electrical system to this new technology.
